The Polaris xSERV is a 4U or 8U Appliance depending on a 120MG or 240MG configuration. The system can be used stand alone as an ASIC/SOC prototyping Appliance or in any host that has a PCI Express x8 slot via a PCI Express extender.

Configurations

xSERV Appliance comes in two configurations – xSERV-120 and xSERV-240.

• xSERV-120 has a nominal design capacity to accommodate up to 120 Million, 2-input NAND gate equivalent ASIC/SOC designs and is housed in a 4U chassis.
• xSERV-240 has a nominal design capacity to accommodate up to 240 Million, 2-input NAND gate equivalent ASIC/SOC designs and is housed in a dual-4U chassis.

System Resources for xSERV-120

xSERV-120 provides 4 HSMC connectors that can be configured as single ended, SERDES or LVDS pairs as per Altera HSMC specification. xSERV-120 offers the following resources:

• 12 single ended global clocks (8 inputs, 4 on board oscillator)
• 8 single ended global clock outputs (can be driven from FPGA or forwarded clocks)
• 4 HSMC connectors – all type III universal (SERDES + LVDS), 124Gbps connectors
• 2 Differential clock outputs, 2 differential clock inputs per HSMC
• 1 Single ended clock input and 1 single ended clock output per HSMC
• 4 reset input per system
• 8 single port, synchronous 128Mb SRAM
• 8GB of DDR 3 expandable to 32GB
• 110/220V AC power input

xSERV-240 provides 8 HSMC connectors that can be configured as single ended, SERDES or LVDS pairs as per Altera HSMC specification. xSERV-240 offers the following resources:

• 24 single ended global clocks (16 inputs, 8 on board oscillator)
• 16 single ended global clock outputs (can be driven from FPGA or forwarded clocks)
• 8 HSMC connectors – all type III universal (SERDES + LVDS), 124Gbps connectors
• 2 Differential clock outputs, 2 differential clock inputs per HSMC
• 1 Single ended clock input and 1 single ended clock output per HSMC
• Built in USB-based JTAG interface for programming
• 8 reset input per system
• 16 single port, synchronous 128Mb SRAM
• 16GB of DDR 3 expandable to 64GB
• 110/220V AC power input

The following is included in the xSERV-120 and xSERV-240 Appliance purchase:

• Hi-rel power supply, rack-mount chassis, connectors
• Clock Sync board
• One year Time-based-license (TBL) of Altera Quartus II Fixed node, subscription edition (includes IP Base Suite and DSP Builder)
